Orientation
Youth participating in the program get to benefit from an orientation week, during which they have the opportunity to explore the following themes:
During this exploration week, participants have the opportunity to undergo a number of personal development experiences. By listening to various speakers, hearing a number of testimonials by former participants and visiting a number of work sites, the participants get to meet key players from the Anglophone and Francophone communities. They are also informed about various organizations that can help them to set up a business and to provide them with information on the steps they need to take to settle in Prince Edward Island.
Work placements
The search for an appropriate work placement is carried out in collaboration with the PERCÉ coordinator. After their orientation week, the participants are placed in a business, organization or governmental department that does business in the students' fields of study.
Objective: To give youth an opportunity to acquire new knowledge and skills pertinent to their career. They also have the chance to establish a network of contacts in their field of studies.
Duration: 8 to 12 weeks, usually starting at the beginning of June and ending in late August.
Salary: The program usually pays a portion of the trainee's salary and the employer pays the remaining portion.
